Illustration Friday

"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." ~Anaïs Nin

My sister often says that I don't have a brain in my head, but a whirling kaliedescope instead. Not a bad way to go through life, if you ask me!

"New Slang" 12" X 12" mixed media on canvas,$125. If you are interested in purchasing this painting please email me at kathymccullen@aol.com It's going to a gallery Tuesday.

Art To Gogh

Art To Gogh

For the next month you can see my work at Donna Van Gogh's Artists' Market on McClendon Avenue. The owners, Terri and Iris, know how hard it is for artists to find a showcase for their work. This eclectic gallery in the Little Five Points/Candler Park area helps local artists get their first exposure to the public.

Yep, That's My Stuff

Terri called me yesterday to tell me that my work was in the front window, so I ran down and snapped these.

My First Show

If you're in the area, I hope you drop by to see the pottery, paintings, sculpture, photography, and jewelry from all over the world.

IF: Propagate

Visions of Bob 14" X 14" mixed media on canvas.

I painted this for my husband's birthday. As you can guess, he's a huge Bob Dylan fan, and since I'm his biggest fan, I wanted to paint him something special for his office.

Another Little Piece of My Heart

14" X 18" acrylic mixed media on canvas

This is a very large Valentine that I painted for my husband. The layers under the acrylic paint are constructed of various souvenirs from special things we did together. There's a ticket from the B.B. King concert we attended on his birthday, a hotel coaster from the Excelsior in New York, a brochure from Charleston, and a pamphlet from a garden in England. The wings are made of a photocopy of a poem he wrote me two Valentines' Days ago.

OWOH: And The Winners Are

Last year I wanted to join this event, but somehow I missed a deadline in order to actually participate in Lisa's brilliant event. I blog-hopped, however, and vicariously reveled in the friendships and bonds that I saw developing. This year, though, I did it; I joined One World One Heart, and my experience was wonderful. I entered late, but was amazed and overwhelmed at how many visitors flew my way on the Magic Carpet. I am pleased to announce that the winners of my prints are:

lkmoonwood at My Muse

Terri at Pringle Hill Studios

Marit at Marit's Blog

I will contact each of you to get your mailing addresses and send you your art as soon as possiible.

I hope that all of you will return on the Magic Carpet to join my Have a HeARt for Haiti event in June. Click here to find out more.

Theme Thursday: Pink and Black ( and a Lotta Red)

Your Own Personal Jesus III

SOLD

I decided to take the colors and composition from my Have a HeArt logo and turn it into a mixed media painting. So here it is: Your Own Personal Jesus III. It's 18" X 24 " and is acrylic, pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, and ink on gallery wrapped canvas. The photo is by my very talented sister whose work you can see here and here.

This painting, along with seven others, and three shrines is going to a gallery in Atlanta tomorrow. Because this is the first time my work has hung anywhere, since 1976, I'm pretty excited! More about this and photos later.
