Last week the Muses and Entourage spent an amusing four days at Blue Mountain Beach, Florida (between Destin and Panama City). We took long walks, cooked seafood, sunned, and visited some incredible folk art galleries, including The Zoo, Gaffrey's Art Gallery, and Big Mama"s Hula Girl Gallery. We also took a very memorable and "unenlighted" bike ride. You see, Lee Ann, Karen, and I were having such fun that we stayed out a little past dark in Seaside one evening. We forgot that the path back to Blue Mountain Beach, lacked streetlights and, as it was a cloudy night with only a crescent moon, we had no moonlight nor even starlight to guide our way home. Fortunately, Lee Ann, our fearless leader, has an adventurous spirit and the radar of a BAT, and we did not end up, head over handlebars, in Alligator Lake!
Our seaside villa was obviously the home of an artist; hammered tin lizards, tempest-tossed mermaids, and barnacled sea turtles hung from the turquoise and coral walls. Glittery dolphins, dancing lobsters, and parrot-headed blowfish made us feel right at home.
It was a very merry and rejuvenating vacation, despite an occasional drizzle and one itsy-bitsy brake repair job, but we couldn't wait to get back to ArtFort to put to use the inspiration we found at the beach.
