Spring Has Sprung

Make a Wish redux

Make a Wish 24 x 30 Acrylic, ink, and charcoal on canvas. $200. To order, contact me at kathymccullen@aol.com .

This painting is for Theme Thursday and my tribute to Kenson, and below are the photos from her class. On the second day of the workshop, Kenson had us do a collaborative painting as an excercise to loosen us up. After setting up a still life, she told everyone to bring over our medium of choice and sit in a circle.

I brought a tube of magenta paint, a piece of black and white scrapbook paper, and a gluestick.

Then we passed around a piece of paper, taking turns painting, pasting, or sketching for about a minute each. We did this seven times so that everyone would have a souvenir to take home.

This was the painting I was lucky enought to get to keep.

It was a wonderful activity. I was anxious, at first, but, as soon as my brush touched the paper, I forgot my nervousness, and got into the process. To me, it was primarily about composition. When I looked at each painting, I tried to add what I thought the piece needed. And I think I can safely say that, based on the number of paintings I've finished this week, Kenson was successful in getting me to loosen up!

I'm so glad you had a good time! And I had to smile about you using the words "loosen up" twice... the name of my workshop is "Let it Loose" you know...teehee!!! That's what it's all about to be free and create! The piece you got to take back home is gorgeous!!!

This is a wonderful expressive piece- sounds like you had a great experience. It seems everything we experience (good or bad) manifests itself in our art expression and we grow. Have a great week Kathy!

What great fun! I did get to see the painting on the floor but the main picture has a "not available" notice from Flickr.
What a fantastic idea to have an art circle and end up with such a delicious picture. Lucky you to be able to keep it.

Had such a lovely visit this morning. Loved the music and loved your work. Congrats on the Van Gogh show! What a cool place to be showing! Wish there was somewhere like that here and that was interested in me . . . sigh. But, I am so delighted for you. And so delighted by your lovely blog - your bright color and bold work just makes my heart leap. I'm leaving it open awhile here to listen to your tunes and sneak some more peeks.
