The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Santana Lantana
Santana Lantana acrylic, paper, oil crayon, and charcoal on panel

You already know how much I love Christmas! Usually, this time of year, I'm dragging out the Santa Clauses and decorating everything that doesn't move with holly and pinecones, but this year I'm getting ready for two shows. So my decorating is strictly limited to what I can put on canvas, or, in this case, wood panel. This little gem is going to a gallery in my hometown in Mississippi, where I will have my first opening with a very talented fellow and friend, Robert Hale. His work is unlike anyone else's I've ever seen and absolutely gorgeous. His current work, which you can see here is painted entirely over layers of a collection of letters from a dear friend.

I'm hoping to find an evening next week to put up a tree, but, in the meantime, the only packages this this old elf is wrapping are crates of paintings marked "Fragile" for UPS, and the only garlands festooning this house are made of picture wire and packing tape!

We'll be decorating our tree this weekend! Good luck with your show.

Thanks for sharing this bright picture today - it's warming me up!!

Robert's work is really interesting. I love layers and ones with history are even more appealing.

Good luck with the show and we are doing the tree thing tonight... this usually involves me tripping over the dog, standing on ornaments and much muttering under the breath, but it is always nice to see it finally done... great painting by the way and I look forward to seeing what you create next xx
