Insomnia: My Greatest Inspiration

woke up at 3:00 a,m, and couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided might as well go up to the Art Attic and have a little Creative Therapy

WIP

I made a lot of progress and finally figured out what to do in that bottom right corner. You'll see more tomorrow.

Much later: okay, I thought I knew what I was going to do with that corner, but now I realize that the black and white checkerboard I planed to paint there will fight with the black and white border on the right side. What should I do? I need help. Suggestions please!

Wow! What a super eye catcher. I can't wait to see what you do with the bottom righthand corner. (PS -thanks for your comment on my cardboard lady. It may be no joke if the economy keeps traveling on the downhill slide. Cardboard Haute Couture? It may just be in next season).

A text of some kind ? I kind of like the idea of black and white though - maybe fluid, swirly rather than geometric ? Just thoughts ! Love the heart face !!!!

You are the fifth person I have heard of this morning who slept badly last night (I was the first). Must be something celestial ???You made good use of your awake time - better than me who just tossed and turned...
Here's to sweet day dream, anyways !

Alberta, if i could be half as creative when I can't sleep, I'd be a very happy lady! I tend to use my time catching up on email and visiting blogs. Next time maybe...xxx

I love this...the color, the size, the sheer life it's got! I've been known to make art many a time at 3 AM! As for that corner, maybe black and white with a touch of blue to balance out the blue on the left and top?

Looking good Kathy. Now who is up at 3:00 a.m. taking the picture? I would never look that good if I got up in the middle of the night to paint.

By the way I would try the checkerboard. You may have to balance it somehow on the left but it wouldn't compete
with the black and white on the right.

Kudos to you, Alberta for painting at 3 a.m.!! Usually when I can't sleep, I just come down and turn on the TV. After a while the infomercials put me to sleep!

Love this piece, but then again, you know that I adore your work. I'm thinking "journaling" and maybe more stars! Can't wait to see the finished piece! Hugs, Terri xoxo

dear dear alberta - i just scrolled down through your posts to the one where you mentioned that this was a piece for your son the musician...how about painting in or collaging in a song in the white space...is there a special song with lyrics that you would like him to keep in his heart????

...just a thought...

What was last night? I didn't sleep either! I couldn't get more than an hour before I'd wake up again. Finally around dawn I got three hours in a row, woke up again and quit trying to get back to sleep.

But most importantly, I love this new piece! Especially the size! I LOVE BIG! Isn't it fun to work large? I love the color in this! Please show us as you develop it!! XOXO

A couple of people said it already, but I was thinking that if this is still for Wesley some text that would mean something to him would look great down there--maybe parts of a Dylan song? It looks incredible!
