Blustery Days

Glissade
Glissade 12" X 12" acrylic, ink, oil crayon, and charcoal for Created By Hand

I love storms. The gray. gathering clouds, the whisper of the wind in the trees, the rich, mineral smell of the air. It always surprises me when people are afraid of stormy weather. Thunderstorms remind me of the night my father sat on the front porch with me and explained what causes lightning. The weather has been beautifully stormy in Georgia, so I moved my easel out on the porch to work on a big commission and this little painting. I hope you have a happy windy day today!

I'm with you on storms, they are amazing to watch. I had to see this piece opened up big on your flickr site, the textured nuances are wonderful and I love the colour palette you work with, just beautiful.

This is a great painting--I love your inspiration behind it. I wish you could talk some sense into my daughter--she is soooo afraid of storms right now that we just can't calm her down--she's so worried everyone will turn into a tornado!

Just beautiful, as always. I'm one of those people who's afraid of stormy weather. I wasn't always. I used to absolutely adore summer thunderstorms and run outside to catch them, feeling exhilarated. But somehow it seems that the weather now is so much different than it used to be - every storm seems to be a "severe" and "potentially deadly" storm. You know what it could very well be? The damn media. I've been watching too much TV. I just read "This Moment's" comment, above, and I can totally relate to how her daughter's feeling. Bet it wouldn't be the case and I'd still be enjoying a good thunderstorms if it weren't for the fear mongering of the newscasters. Anyway, I hope you're thoroughly enjoying your stormy days in Georgia, my friend!

Очень хорошо передано настроение погоды. Люблю такие фоны, которые о многом говорят...
